Health care as a right, not a privilege. I am fairly certain that the formation of Evan Bayh's 'Blue Dogs' caucus is here to do nothing more than to try to deny us universal health care. This group needs to be called out at every pathetic turn they make, as they side with the GOP and the vampires in the health insurance industry.

Good post.Good post.Health insurance is insurance that pays for medical expenses. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering disability or long-term nursing or custodial care needs.

I will read from time to time for that.

Please stop using "insurance" for health care. Back in the FDR era 'Social Security' was so named in order to avoid 'insurance', after all it is a word totally associated with insurance companies (consult Noam Chomsky about the power of words. Use 'Health Security' for that is what it should be. For competion to 'health for profit' use VA as a model. Start by having clinics in every city/vilage that is not run for profit like VA clinics.

Honorable Senators
I am writing not as a Democrat nor Republican but as an American to voice my concern over the Administration legalization on Cap and Trade and health care. In short, I believe that its time for leadership and on the part of the Congress to do the right thing for America and Americans. These issues can only serve to hurt the taxpayers and ruin the health care for Americans. I believe that you and your fellow Senators must stand up to the President and those in the Congress from both parties that are bent on furthering their agenda to bring more government control and intrusion that should be left to the marketplace and increasing the tax burden of the American people. I urge you be the Statesman that America needs at this crucial time in our history.
Respectfully,

I could not agree more. Its time politics are put aside, and our elected officials start looking out for all Americans, instead of themselves and the special interest groups. God bless you Edwardo.

You sound like a typical "I've got mine who gives a **** about the rest of you. Shortsightedness like yours is why this country is in the mess we are. Without Universal Health Care even the privileged ones with good health coverage now, will be paying out the nose in the years to come, without a public option. You are not speaking out as an American, but as an individual who is determined to see the President lose.

Exactly why does this posting sound like "I've got mine who gives a *** about the rest of you?" This is someone who is simply uneasy about the health care bill as it is written, and who is uneasy about "cap and trade." The last sentence is astonishing. In other words, someone who doesn't want Obama to get his way and disagrees with him is "not speaking out as an American." You sound like a kool-aid drinking Bushie. Just on the other side of the spectrum.

Edwardo says that he is not writing as a democrat or republicn, but I'll bet you dollars to donuts he is a republican.I didn't hear about all of this talk about government control when Bush was in office. Obama is trying to do something for those americans who are disadantaged. If Edwardo should lose his job, what would he for healtcare?

I have written to both the DNC and the Dem. Senate Campaign Comm. to inform them that since they fund all senators in their re-elecions bids, I will no longer donate to them. I will not give money to the blue dogs who are as much a Dem. as Zell Miller was. In fact, I intend to donate to who ever runs against them. If its a Republican, so be it. At least we'll know what we're dealing with. If enough people refuse to give to the National Campaign Committies and give to orgs. like Moveon, only with the proviso that the money not go to any blue dogs, someone will sit up and take notice. These people were put into office by the hundreds of millions of dollars donated by real Dems. and real people who believed the promise of real change. Just like everthing else in this country, money talks. Threaten to cut if off and see what happens!!

I think everyone should have health care
but I don't think what the president has in mind is good. No one has really even read the bill. It is over 1,000 pages. In PA I have never heard of anyone being sent away from a hospital because of no insurance. In fact 4 of my children after my insurance didn't cover them any more had to be seen in the emergency room and they filled out paperwork and paid out limited money.
No more than a deductible. My one son had an operation on his eye. It cost him $1,000.00. If it was me I would have paid $2,000.00 with my deductible.
So I see no hurry in rushing this bill, lets just get it right this time. We can't afford not to.

Hey Genius...there is no bill yet! You're nothing more than a RETHUGLICAN TOOL! It's idiots like you that make this so difficult for the rest of us PATRIOTS!!! We are being buried by the healthcare insurance corporations and pharma! You have it all wrong. Insurance company personnel get paid bonuses for denying claims! Pharmaceutical companies are bilking us every year to the tune of hundreds of billions of $$.
GET A CLUE!!! NOW IS THE TIME!!! It's never going to happen if we don't pass it NOW!!!
"WE ARE THE PEOPLE WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!"
Don't listen to liars like this!! Call, write protest, organize. You're Americans. It's your patriotic imperative to express your outrage at these liars who are willing to stand by and watch you suffer and die!

1. Uh, actually there is a draft of a bill. It is, in fact, over 1000 pages.
2. No one wants to be "buried" by health care costs. All she's saying is that the system now existing worked for her.
3. On what basis are you calling her a liar?
4. I have concerns about the bill. That does not mean I'm willing to "stand by and watch you die."
You would make a better case if you didn't sound like a hysterical fanatic shouting slogans.

Well you and your family are very lucky, but unfortunately the majority of Americans without health insurance are not so fortunate. Your comments sound like you are concerned only with yourself, and no one else matters. You say there is no need to rush. Who is rushing? There have been calls to reform the health care system since Harry Truman, and still the insurance companies and their lobbyists have been able to buy the congress time and time again. Of course when the emergency rooms start shutting down as they are in California, Oregon and many other states, people like you will be the first and loudest to complain (and probably blame it all on the progressives.)
Reply to this
The comment doesn't give me the impression at all that "no one else matters" to the poster. As for being concerned with herself and her family: Why shouldn't she be? How much is she supposed to sacrifice for you?
Reply to this
It amazes me how these complainers gripe about the cost of health care but says nothing about the cost of Bush's war. We've spent enough on his war to pay for health care 10 times over. My daughter has had her hours in her job cut to 20 hours a week, therefore she has no medical coverage. She has been trying to sign up for a plan, but the cost is prohibitive and they don't cover pre-existing conditions. The new health care plan will provide for her to get medical coverage.

All human situations have their inconveniences. We feel those of the present but neither see nor feel those of the future; and hence we often make troublesome changes without amendment, and frequently for the worse.

The Blue Dog Democrats should change their name to ( The Yellow Belly Democrats) At least the Republicans stand up for their own party, right or wrong and they are usually wrong. The Yellow Belly's are TRAITORS TO THEIR PARTY, and only care about being re elected and everyone knows their money comes from the Health Insurance Industry. These Yellow Belly's could care less about the millions of people without insurance or are under insured because of the expense of having an all inclusive policy. I used to sell private insurance and had to stop since it was such crap, with so many loopholes you might go bankrupt even with the best private policy. Another thing for you so called Conservatives out there, check this out, your heroes: Fat Boy Limbo; Great American Hannity; Cry Baby Glen Beck; Crooked Mouth Cheny, these guys are beating the President up because he wants to get all the information possible before he sends our troops into a very long protacted war. NOT ONE OF THESE GUYS HAVE EVER HAD ON A UNIFORM OF THE U.S. but they sure are willing to send our troops over in a big hurry. The General that said we needed 40,000 more troops or we will lose the war was correct except to win it we would probably need 500,000 troops. A General without a war is a general without a job. Read Patton.

very nice post and i am very impressed of your post.but i think Blue Dog Coalition was formed in 1995 with the goal of representing the center of the House of Representatives and appealing to the mainstream values of the American public. The Blue Dogs are dedicated to a core set of beliefs that transcend partisan politics

Seven hundred billion dollars. That's a ballpark estimate of how much money is wasted in the U.S. medical system every single year, according to a new Thomson Reuters (TRI) report. A sum equal to roughly one-third of the nation's total health-care spending is flushed away on unnecessary treatments, redundant tests, fraud, errors, and myriad other monetary sinkholes that do nothing to improve the nation's health. Cut that figure by half, and there would be more than enough money to offer top-notch care to every one of America's 46 million uninsured.
