CNN Poll: 88% say Rep. Stark should not apologize

[ CNN is reporting that 88% of those voting in their Friday morning online poll say there is no reason Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) should apologize for remarks blasting President Bush on the floor of the House of Representatives.

In the course of debate on expanding SCHIP funding, Stark told Congressional Republicans (video, story), "You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people, if we could get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their head's blow off for the president's amusement." ]

Not a single Republican voted for the motion to table this embarrassing resolution. The motion to table (kill) John Boehner's attempt to bring further disrepute to Congress passed 196-173. ]

[ Thank you for further enabling the Republican Party to continue its assault on the Democrats, the Democrat Party and patriotic Liberals throughout the country. Your apology today was totally unnecessary and unfortunate. In fact, it was a real embarrassment. The phony Censure Resolution against you should have never been allowed to come to the floor in the first place. As it was, the vote was not able to pass and your apology was inappropriate. I only wish you had chosen to stand up to the Party that has literally taken this country and broken it into so many small little pieces. The utter lawlessness they have consistently exhibited has been simply breathtaking, to say the least and the damage they have done in the last seven years will take decades to correct, assuming we have politicians with the courage to speak the truth and not waver from their convictions. Today, you failed in that regard.
