Here are the current GOP front runners for President in 2008 and a guide to help you along. We explore the bad, the ugly, and the down right scary idea that our country should endure another 4 years of right-wing corruption and rule. Except for Ron Paul, these guys are pretty ripe, and that's not a compliment.

I still don't know about the commons argument - but at any rate, at least Ron Paul stands for ending ridiculous wars and returning to sane spending practices.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian, and they trust that Free Markets can regulate many things fairly. I disagree with that. The government can and should regulate things that belong to everyone, or things that are part of our collective security. The government's job is to provide security in many forms: defense, economic, environmental, transportation infrastructure, communications, social security, medicare, there's many more. They need to act as an arbiter between big business and people, that's the basic idea. If left to solely to big business or 'free markets', we become a fascist country, big business will roll back the clock by rolling back the New Deal. America is only as strong as it's middle class, something Bush Co has been destroying anyway he can. Ron Paul's Libertarian views enable that, so while he's great on Iraq and the bogus "War On Terror" slogan, his social views are inept. I am happy to see him hold his party's feet to the fire on Iraq and our belligerent foreign policy, but without Ron Paul having a realistic grip on Domestic and Economic policy, he should not be President.

It is a common belief that the Federal Government protects you from exploitation of large commercial interests. Good examples include Halliburton (profiteering), Enron (selective regulation), and Microsoft (monopoly protection). No my friend, if anything, I think the Federal Government is more often than not in collusion with those who would exploit. I would feel more comfortable with local or State regulations to check any exploits that slip through the cracks.

I agree that our country meets the criteria of Fascism.

My ideal candidate requirements:
1) Against the Iraq War from the beginning. Why did we invade Iraq again?
2) Against Torture. duh!
3) Against Domestic Spying
4) Against the Military Commissions Act...Habeus Corpus anyone?
5) In favor of making immediate changes that would FOREVER replace the system of Checks and Balances that is SO MESSED atm in Federal Government.
6) In favor of free trade and free ideas.
7) In favor of free speech and expression.
8) Someone who favors diplomacy over coersion and just being generally nice in foreign policy (saber rattling is so yesterday!)
9) Someone who will spurn Special Interest in favor of the Rights of the People as spelled out in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
10) Someone who believes in the Rule of Law and that nobody is above that law.
I know it is a VERY tall order, but does anyone know of a credible candidate who can even come close to this Gold Standard? Anyone?

John McCain and Rudy are the only serious and electable candidates who could get the job done. Unfortunately, Rudy has some unsavory baggages pulling him down and McCain is short on cash. So, the result of this year's presidential campaign may be a very strange animal.
